Structure of core welding wire
Powder core welding wire (electrode core powder) is a metal electrode inside a core of wire filled with a powder in the form of a powder as a drug coated with welding rods. The structure of the core coil consists of two basic parts: a metallic outer shell of a metal wire made of metal bands and a powder core is a mixture of minerals in the form of a powder similar to that of a rod Welded, but not containing shaping agents and binders.

1. Wire harness
Metallic outer shell of tubular wire, made of metal band, then made into U-shaped or metal wire shape. Then filled with powdered drug and seal (sealed). The next stage can be scaled down to the required size and rolled into a certain mass. Cases are usually low carbon steel, highly flexible, to facilitate machining. 2. Core powder:
Powder core is a mixture of minerals in the form of a powder similar to a drug coated with a stick, but does not contain molding agents and binders. They also function as substances in normal bundle coatings or alloying compounds (ie, mainly containing ferro-alloys or metal powders).
For powdered cores with normal properties, powdered cores usually contain gasifiers, which form slag to protect the arc and metal from the impact of the surrounding environment. 10-15% is reliable enough.
For powder core welding wire with additional alloying function, the core factor will be larger.

The following slag systems are often used:
● Acidic type: TiO2 slag, eg, E70T-1, E70T-2;
● Basic or neutral type: CaCO3 – TiO2 slag, eg E70T – 1;
● Base type: CaCO3 – SiO2 – CaF2 slag, eg E70T – 5
On the basis of the lace on the Institute of Welding named E.O.Paton studied the popular types: – AH1, – AH2, – AH3 which added Na2SiF6.
❖ Type of self-protection:
Usually used in combination:
● Self-healing thick shell: contains a large amount of O2, N2 reductant. It’s Al, Ti and Zr, and sometimes even Ni, to improve the impact strength of the weld metal.
● Common slag systems: contain more gas.

+ CaF2 slag – Aluminum oxide, for example E70T – 4, E60T – 7, E60T – 8.
